  • What is a Hotspot?
    A hotspot is a location offering internet access via Wi-Fi, using a router connected to an internet provider. Common in public places like cafes and airports, hotspots allow devices like smartphones and laptops to connect to the internet wirelessly. They can be open for free access or secured, requiring authentication.
  • What is a MAC address?
    A MAC address is a unique 48-bit code assigned to each Ethernet network card. Access Points may have multiple network cards, each with its own MAC address, usually found on the back of the device. MAC addresses are formatted as six pairs of hexadecimal digits separated by colons (e.g., 00:1A:2B:3C:4D:5E).
  • Is there a guide available for setting up my device?

  • How should I configure my firewall to allow traffic to and from the Purple platform?
    It is necessary to enable traffic toward and from the Purple RADIUS. In particular, the below ports must be allowed in the firewall. 
    UDP: 1812 for Authentication 
    UDP: 1813 for Accounting
  • How can I find my walled garden URLs or IPs?
    Walled Garden Domain Whitelist
  • Where do I find the captive portal URLs or IPs mentioned in the hardware guide?
    Please log in to the portal and navigate to Venue > Hardware to download the full guide. 
    This guide will include the portal IP/URLs and the secret required to complete the setup.
  • Can end-users access external links in pre-authentication mode?
    In pre-authentication mode, end-users can only access the Splash Portal and specified IPs or domains in the walled garden list. Attempting to access anything outside this list will result in an error.
  • I need help setting up RADIUS information.
    Please refer to our quick user guides for each supported access point vendor to assist with your configuration needs. Supported Hardware
    If you require RADIUS details such as the IP address or secret, log in to the portal and navigate to Venue > Hardware to download the full guide.
  • How can I find out what hardware is supported by Purple?

  • My hardware is not supported?
    Apologies, we are unable to support your device. However, we do support a wide range of alternative products you can choose from. Here is a complete list of our supported hardware. Supported Hardware
  • Does Purple offer the ability to whitelist specific MAC or IP addresses?
    Devices can be whitelisted in the portal one at a time. Navigate to Management > Customers, access the venue's 'Settings' tab, and ensure MAC Authentication is enabled. Enter the 12-digit MAC address and select 'Add to Whitelist'. 
    For bulk whitelisting, provide a CSV file with venue names and device MAC addresses to our support team via chat.
  • The RADIUS settings on the controller shows: Can't contact radius server?
    Our RADIUS server only responds to valid user authentications, so encountering this error is normal on the controller. Once you have completed setting up the guide, please log in to the Wi-Fi to conduct a proper test.
