Real-time map data is available on our RTLS products. This displays live data to improve the overall user experience and can be utilized across a wide variety of use cases, such as:
- Waiting times, for example in an emergency room or at a theme park
- Queue times, such as at security checkpoints in airports or waiting for a rollercoaster
- Parking capacity
- Occupancy
Once in place and set as live, the information will be visible to end-users at all times.
Functionality is displayed in text, numerical units, and RAG (Red, Amber and Green) customizable statuses for a flexible offering that maximizes end-user benefits and visibility:
The wait time displays on screen by default once turned on, with information also displaying when hovering over the relevant site and when the destination is selected.
Connection to a variety of data sources will be possible, with that data able to be rendered against a particular destination. Purple will handle the ingest of data.
Features
Within a web browser, the waiting time is immediately obvious on screen alongside a status of red, amber, or green. The below image showcases wait times within a theme park:
The wait time also displays when hovering over the relevant site:
The information is again displayed after selecting the POI, with an offer to buy fast track underneath:
This will display in web browsers in both desktop and mobile, with the mobile version condensed as normal to better fit screen parameters.
Implementation
A toggle will be present on every POI which can be turned on and off as required:
To navigate to this, after logging in as an admin user:
- Select the location you want to add the functionality to from the left-hand sidebar menu
- Click into the name of the location
- Click into the name of the building & area
Next, select the destination point you want the real time map data to display for. In this case, we’ll use the food court:
A right-hand sidebar menu will display after you have clicked the destination point. Scroll down in the default ‘About’ tab, and the Real time map data toggle will display. Turn this on for live data to show.
The adding of real time data to the map will be handled by Purple. The data will be ingested then matched to the destination. It will be taken from various sources, such as publicly available APIs or data from the customer that Purple can plug into.
The RAG threshold (when the red, amber, or green is displayed) is currently defined in the API setup.
