Important

Juniper Mist does not support RADIUS authentication and accounting for a captive portal. Therefore, some reports in the portal like users online now and network reports will be unavailable.

Logging in

Open a web browser and log in to your Mist Cloud dashboard at https://manage.mist.com.

WLAN Configuration

Click Network > WLANs on the left menu and then click Add WLAN at the top right. Configure as per below:

SSID: Guest WiFi (or whatever you wish)
WLAN Status: Enabled
Security Type: Open Access
Guest Portal: Forward to an external portal
Portal URL: *insert access_url here*
Allowed Hostnames: Please refer to this list.

Click Save at the top right.

Next, go back in to the WLAN you just created and locate the API Secret key. This needs to be set in your WiFi portal under the Venue settings - "Mist API secret" box.

 

To enable our SecurePass WiFi solution please complete the steps below. This enables a secure, seamless WiFi connection for repeat users.

Secure WLAN Configuration

Click Network > WLANs on the left menu and then click Add WLAN at the top right. Configure as per below:

SSID: Secure Guest WiFi (or whatever you wish)
WLAN Status: Enabled
Security Type: WPA2 Enterprise (802.1X)
Passpoint: Enabled
Operators: OpenRoaming-Settlement-Free
Venue Name: Your Venue Name

Under Advanced Settings configure with:

Domain Name: securewifi.purple.ai
Roaming Consortium ID: 5A03BA0000,004096
NAI Realm Name: securewifi.purple.ai
NAI Realm EAP Type: TTLS

Under Authentication Servers configure with:

Server Type: Radsec
Server Name: *.purple.ai
Server Addresses:
(Add server)
Host: rad1-secure.purple.ai
Port: 2083
Server Addresses:
(Add server)
Host: rad2-secure.purple.ai
Port: 2083
NAS Identifier: MIST-{{DEVICE_MAC}}

Under Guest Portal configure with:

Guest Portal: Forward to an external portal
Portal URL: *insert access_url here*
Allowed Hostnames: Please refer to this list.

Click Save at the top right.

RadSec Certificate

In order to ensure a secure RADIUS connection, a certificate must be configured.

Click Organization Settings and configure as follows:

RadSec Certificates: Click Add a RadSec certificate and paste the contents of this file.

Click Add and then Save at the top right.

Configuration Complete

The configuration is now complete.
