Improvement

Additional Micro Survey multi-choice answers

The maximum number of multiple choice answers that can be included in a Micro Survey has risen from the previous limit to 10.

Improvement

Next Gen RTLS: Map Experience improvements

Map pin overlap fix

Four map experience improvements ship together: pins and text no longer overlap when zooming; destination names wrap to two lines and use ellipsis when too long; destinations set to no icon show text only (removing the confusing blue dot); and all markers have been reduced to 75% of their previous size for a cleaner map.

Improvement

WiFi: Additional video delay options in LogicFlow v2

Video delay options

Post-authentication video skip delays in LogicFlow v2 now include shorter options. The minimum was previously 10 seconds - customers can now select 1, 3, or 5 seconds, giving greater control over the end-user experience.

November 2024
New feature

Next Gen RTLS: Save functionality for points of interest

Saved POIs highlighted in green

Users can now save any point of interest - including custom POIs - directly from the map tray. Saved points highlight in green on the map and in menus, persist in local browser storage, and are surfaced in Search under a dedicated Saved destinations option. A shine animation on the save button prompts usage at relevant moments such as selecting an arrival point.

Improvement

Next Gen RTLS: Continuous improvements

Six improvements to the RTLS experience: start and end points no longer obscure the user location when positioned north or south of a venue; zoom animation now shows for all offsite route triggers on mobile; language switching no longer exits Kiosk mode; white background bug on map vectors in Web is fixed; a clear message now shows when only one language is available; and on-screen keyboards in Kiosk mode now match the selected language.

Improvement

WiFi: Venue name added to Micro Survey CSV exports

Venue name is now included as a column in Micro Survey CSV exports, making it straightforward to identify which venue each respondent was in. Previously this required contacting the data science team. The field is backdated so historical reports also benefit.

October 2024
New feature

Micro Survey: AI creation and logo upload

AI survey creation

Two new Micro Survey capabilities: surveys can now be created using AI by describing the survey and specifying the number of questions - prompts work in over 55 languages and individual questions can be regenerated if unsatisfactory. Separately, a survey logo can now be uploaded and displays at every step of the survey and in any follow-up emails.

New feature

Next Gen RTLS: Multi-language translations

Language selection popup

Users can now switch the RTLS interface to their preferred language from a dropdown. Over 40 languages are available in web browsers and kiosks, with right-to-left layout support included. The default language is based on the user's browser settings. Destination and node names, edge descriptions, and directions are all translated; location names and addresses are not auto-translated. A toggle in Admin lets specific POIs opt out of translation.

New feature

Next Gen RTLS: GPS Web Positioning

GPS positioning on map

A new locate button finds the user's approximate position on the web map - accurate to within 10m in optimum conditions using a combination of WiFi, GPS and mobile data. In multi-floor buildings users are prompted to confirm their floor. The button has three states: red (location permissions not granted), grey (signal too weak), and blue (positioned successfully). A Return to Location button keeps the venue as the primary focus.

New feature

Next Gen RTLS: Join WiFi prompt

Join WiFi prompt

A configurable prompt now encourages RTLS web users to connect to the venue's preferred WiFi network. The network SSID and an optional hyperlink are set in a new WiFi Integration tab in Admin. The prompt appears at the bottom of the screen on mobile and beneath the search bar on web, and can be deleted from the same tab when no longer needed.

September 2024
Improvement

Next Gen RTLS: Floor switcher and routing improvements

Floor switcher arrows

The floor switcher is now a scrollable list with arrow navigation rather than an unbounded vertical stack, reducing screen clutter in tall buildings. Separately, offsite routing has been improved so users arriving by a specific transport method (e.g. valet parking) are taken directly to their intended arrival point rather than being routed via an intermediate location.

Improvement

WiFi: Six platform improvements

Paid WiFi pagination

Six WiFi platform improvements released together: Paid WiFi voucher details now paginate at 10 rows per page; loading spinners added to the landing page and analytics for clearer feedback; analytics screens adapt to desktop and mobile layouts; whitelisting guidance for Apple Pay is now shown inline rather than as a popup; Access Journeys and Splash Pages sort by last edited by default; and a registration form zoom bug on iOS has been fixed.

July 2024
New feature

WiFi: New landing page with analytics dashboard

WiFi landing page

Admin users now land on a new home page after logging into the WiFi portal. It surfaces key platform capabilities as quick links and embeds an analytics dashboard showing at-a-glance metrics for the selected venue or group. The default date range is the last 30 days.

New feature

Next Gen RTLS: Real-time map data

Real-time wait times on map

Live data can now be overlaid on RTLS maps - queue times, wait times, parking capacity, occupancy, and more. Values display as text, numbers, and red/amber/green (RAG) status indicators against any point of interest. Data is ingested by Purple from public APIs or customer data sources and toggled per POI in Admin.

New feature

Next Gen RTLS: Offers on points of interest

Offers on POI sidebar

Offers can now be attached to any point of interest - a configurable link with icon and promotional text appears in the POI sidebar. Use cases include fast-track ride passes at theme parks, priority airport security lanes, or time-sensitive retail and dining offers. Click analytics are available on request.

New feature

Next Gen RTLS: Destination media - images in tooltips and galleries

Image in map tooltip

Images can now be added to destination tooltips and full galleries in RTLS. Up to 8 images per location are supported. Clicking a tooltip image opens the full gallery with title and upload date displayed per image. Galleries adapt for both web and mobile and can be used alongside the Offers feature to draw attention to promotions.

New feature

Next Gen RTLS: Analytics overview dashboard

An overview analytics dashboard is now shown on the RTLS landing page after login. It covers total users, repeat users, total sessions, routes served, routes over time, a top-10 routes heatmap, platform breakdown, and most selected destinations. Filters by venue and date range are available. Bespoke dashboards can be created by Purple's Professional Services team.

Improvement

Next Gen RTLS: Five UX improvements

Loading screen with logo

Five RTLS improvements: the loading screen now shows a spinner, optional secondary logo, and a subtle zoom on completion; clicking stair icons now switches floors as users expect; proximity distances over 500ft convert to miles; route directions always display from the start point in the prominent blue colour; and admin route drawing snaps together more reliably with fewer bugs.

June 2024
New feature

Search and filter across the Purple platform

Search and filter box

A standardised search and filter bar is now available across Access Journeys, Splash Pages, LogicFlow, and other key areas of the platform. Search is always positioned top-left and works across all columns except Created. This replaces inconsistent per-feature search implementations with a single predictable pattern.

Improvement

Micro Survey internal titles

Micro survey internal title field

Micro Surveys now support two separate titles: an internal name used within the platform (visible in the survey list, LogicFlow, and Access Journeys) and an external name shown to survey participants. Existing surveys automatically use the original name for both fields.

Improvement

Paid WiFi: Clearer PII messaging in voucher table

PII hidden messaging

The Used by column in the Paid WiFi reusable voucher table previously showed only a dash for users without sufficient permissions. It now shows a clear message explaining that the email is hidden due to permission levels, removing ambiguity for admin users.

New feature

Paid WiFi: Free to paid plan upgrade without waiting

Upgrade from free to paid plan

End users can now upgrade from a free WiFi plan to a paid plan immediately, without waiting for the free plan to expire. An upgrade prompt appears on the splash page when a free plan is selected, and a follow-up email with upgrade option is also sent. The feature is opt-in per access journey and disabled by default.

New feature

Google authentication for WiFi login

Google auth logo on splash page

End users can now authenticate to WiFi using their Google account. Two-factor authentication is supported. On Apple devices, Google authentication is automatically hidden as it is not available through the Apple Captive Network Assistant. The method is available for standard and custom HTML splash pages, and Google login data appears in the CRM connection method tracking.

New feature

Apple Pay for Paid WiFi

Apple Pay payment option

Apple Pay is now available as a payment method for Paid WiFi. At least one additional payment option must also be enabled alongside it. Refunds including partial refunds are supported through the portal with email notifications. Enable via Onboarding Access Journeys Paid WiFi and select a payment handler from the Apple Pay dropdown.

Improvement

RTLS: Eight performance and usability improvements

Eight improvements across the RTLS platform: editor response times improved by at least 50%; initial map zoom set to a more useful default level; floor switcher tooltip added on desktop with blue border highlight; compass directions removed from auto-generated route instructions; consecutive route edges merged into a single direction; route steps are now selectable and sync with the map view; a custom point floor-sharing bug is fixed; and negative floor numbers are now accepted in the floor picker.

May 2024
Improvement

API v1.7 - clearer subscription status and corrected endpoints

API v1.7 introduces three improvements: a new property distinguishes users who opted out of marketing from those who never subscribed, with an unsubscribed_at timestamp; the Unsubscribes endpoint response property is corrected from unsubcribers to unsubscribers; and the Visitors and Venues endpoints now return HTTP 200 when no results are found rather than a misleading 404.

April 2024
Improvement

Wayfinding: Offsite/onsite cards, undo/redo, and bug fixes

Offsite journey cards

Offsite journey cards are now collapsible with journey time split into offsite and onsite legs, transport icons, and results ordered by total duration. The route header now shows time, distance and initial arrival point. Walking times include an extra minute to account for user orientation. Undo (Ctrl+Z) and redo (Ctrl+Shift+Z) are now available in Admin. Two building pin name bugs (duplication and truncation) are fixed.

New feature

Wayfinding Kiosk - Next-Gen touchscreen wayfinding

Kiosk touchscreen wayfinding

Next-Gen Wayfinding is now available via kiosk. Touchscreen controls provide turn-by-turn directions, with QR codes letting users transfer the route to their phone. A Locate Me button centres the map on the kiosk location. The accessibility button moves all controls to the bottom of the screen and auto-selects accessible routes. Kiosks are managed from a dedicated Admin tab showing name, ID, status, building, floor and last active time.

Improvement

Wayfinding: QR code sharing and updated iconography

QR code share wayfinding

Sharing a destination or route now generates a QR code rather than just a link, making it easy to transfer directions to a phone or for staff to hand directions to visitors. Default POI iconography has been updated for clearer destination identification, and a hover animation now highlights the item being viewed.

New feature

Customisable marketing opt-in messaging

Marketing opt-in toggles

Marketing opt-in messages on splash pages are now fully customisable from within the Purple platform. Three toggles control whether visitors see an opt-in request, whether WiFi provider marketing is included, and whether the opt-in box is pre-ticked. Dual opt-in is supported with separate message fields for each checkbox. HTML is supported in the message fields.

Improvement

Wayfinding Kiosk: Locate Me, element visibility, and search improvements

Kiosk locate me button

Four Kiosk and Wayfinding improvements: the Locate Me button now works across all floors; all buildings, floors, and floorplans are simultaneously visible in Admin during initial placement; the Change location button hides when only one location exists; and offsite search results are now ranked by proximity to the starting point rather than in a random order.

Fix

Wayfinding: Image rendering, kiosk button and icon visibility fixes

External grounds rendering

Three fixes: external grounds now render at maximum zoom-out level so details are immediately visible without needing to zoom in; the Locate Me button now works regardless of which floor the user is viewing (previously it only worked on the kiosk's own floor); and the kiosk icon no longer appears on floors where no kiosk is present.

New feature

Wayfinding: Accessible routes on Web, Mobile and Kiosk

Accessible route comparison

Accessible routes are now available across all platforms. Routes that avoid stairs, escalators, raised terrain or other barriers are marked with an accessibility icon and can be filtered so only accessible options show. Edges default to accessible when drawn in Admin; a toggle marks specific edges as not wheelchair accessible. On Kiosk, the wheelchair button moves controls to the bottom of the screen and auto-enables the accessible routes filter.

New feature

RTLS: New landing page, proximity search order, and camera control

RTLS landing page

Three improvements for admin and end users: admins now see a landing page with quick links to key RTLS areas on login rather than going straight to Locations; search results for end users on the web client are now ordered by proximity to the start or endpoint with distance shown; and when triggering an offsite route the camera automatically zooms out to show the full route then zooms in on the arrival point.

February 2024
New feature

Marketing opt-in analytics report

Marketing opt-in report

A new report shows opt-in and opt-out counts over a custom date range with quick presets for day, week, month, and year. Filters by gender, connection method, location, age range, and device type are available. Data exports in CSV or PDF. Scheduling monthly is recommended so the report captures both opt-in and opt-out actions over time. Available for Enterprise customers only.

Improvement

Micro Survey: Last edited column and keyboard input for multi-choice

Two Micro Survey usability improvements for Enterprise customers: the survey list now includes a Last Edited column and sorts by most recently edited by default; and when adding multiple choice answers, pressing Enter now adds a new choice without needing to click Add choice each time.

Improvement

Paid WiFi: Cleaner data allowance display and streamlined checkout

Data allowance display

Data allowances now display in user-friendly units - 1 GB instead of 1000 MB, 1 TB instead of 10,000 MB. Separately, the invoice details step has been removed from the Paid WiFi checkout flow as it was not required by payment providers, reducing friction for end users.

January 2024
New feature

Terms Management - editable terms documents within the platform

Terms documents can now be added, edited, and deleted directly within the Purple platform. Terms can be linked at company level to specific access journeys, language versions are supported, and the Privacy Policy and EULA templates have been updated. Every time terms change, end users must accept the new version before proceeding - seamless login users are redirected to the splash page for acceptance.
